Tekkusai × AIMCORE Kohaku Review
Until now, uncoated glasspads were my go-to, mainly because of how well they hold up over time. The Kohaku is my first real coated glasspad and I was a bit unsure about it at first, but the feeling is clearly different. When it dropped at 39$, a lot of people expected the usual budget compromises. I paid 58.85€ with EU taxes and shipping included. Even at that price, this doesn’t feel like a product that cuts corners.
Specs & Build
- 500 × 450 mm, 2mm glass
- Nano-coated surface
- Edge-to-edge silicone base
- Fully rounded edges
Limited to around 1300 pieces
Honestly, at this level of quality, the price almost feels secondary compared to other glasspads. The build quality is comparable to, and in some cases better than glasspads costing two or three times more. The glass feels solid and consistent, at least for my unit. The coating is super clean, and the rounded edges are done right. No flex, no sharp corners, nothing feels cheap.
With its 2 mm thickness, the Kohaku stays incredibly discreet under the arm. You barely notice it at all, unlike some thicker glasspads where the height difference is obvious. The profile is really comfortable and basically disappears when you’re playing.
Design
Some of the recent anime designs on glasspads have honestly put me off a little, but I really like what they’ve done with the Kohaku. The ear definitely caught me off guard at first. It’s pretty big lol, but I’ve gotten used to it and honestly, I kinda like it now. It’s clean, cool, and doesn’t feel "overdone" I would say. It stands out in a good way without grabbing your attention while playing.
AIMCORE Collaboration
The Kohaku is a collaboration between Tekkusai and AIMCORE, a community built around aiming and mouse performance. I really like seeing this kind of collaboration between a brand and a community. It gives the Kohaku a more personal feel and adds to that “made for gamers, by gamers” aspect.
