Terms of service

By creating an account or using Kova, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the platform. These terms form a binding agreement between you and Kova.

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum digital age of consent in your country, if higher) to create an account. By signing in, you confirm you meet this requirement.

Sign-ups are currently open to everyone. We may gate, pause, or close sign-ups (for example by requiring an invite code) at our discretion and at any time without notice.

• You sign in via Discord OAuth. You are responsible for maintaining access to your Discord account.
• Your username must not impersonate another person or brand, and must comply with our username rules (2–32 characters, lowercase alphanumeric with hyphens or underscores).
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• You may connect a kovaaks account to your profile. The connection runs through your Discord account, so it can only ever attach an account that is already yours. Any attempt to present someone else’s scores, ranks, or Steam account as your own is a violation of these terms.

You agree not to use Kova to:

• Post content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, or harassing.
• Impersonate any person, aimgroup, or organisation.
• Upload images you do not own or have the right to use (e.g. copyrighted material, other people’s photos without consent).
• Falsify rank, score, or achievement claims (including showcase items, kovaaks benchmarks, and tournament submissions).
• File false or retaliatory reports against other users or aimgroups, or submit fake applications, invites, or tournament entries.
• Post deceptive marketplace listings, including misrepresenting items you do not own or cannot deliver.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other accounts or platform systems.
• Scrape, crawl, or bulk-harvest data from the platform without permission.
• Use the platform for spam, unsolicited advertising, or commercial promotion outside the marketplace.

You retain ownership of content you upload to Kova (profile text, images, reviews, links, applications, tournament submissions, and feedback you submit). By posting it, you grant Kova a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and serve that content as part of providing the platform.

We reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms or that we determine, at our discretion, to be harmful to the platform or its users. Removal is not necessarily preceded by warning.

Peripheral reviews must reflect your honest experience with the product. You may not post reviews of products you have not used, accept payment in exchange for a review without disclosing it, or coordinate with others to mass-rate a product up or down. We may remove reviews that appear to violate this in good faith.

Aimgroup owners and managers are responsible for their aimgroup’s content, roster decisions, application forms, and any data members provide in applications. Inviting a user to an aimgroup requires their acceptance. Kova is not responsible for disputes between aimgroup members, including kicks, role changes, or rejected applications.

Owners may connect a Discord server and add our bot. If you do, you are responsible for the bot’s permissions and for who you grant Discord role control to. With role mirroring enabled, changes to mapped Discord roles can change members’ aimgroup roles and tiers. Members of a connected server consent to the bot reading the server’s roster and roles and to the kova content the owner enables being posted into the channels they configure.

Tournament hosts are responsible for setting and enforcing tournament rules, verifying participants, and resolving disputes. Kova provides tooling for brackets, scoring, and stream overlays but does not act as a referee or guarantor of fairness. Submitting falsified scores, no-showing without notice, or otherwise disrupting a tournament you joined may result in removal from the platform.

Kova does not fund, hold, or pay out prizes. Any prize pool, entry fee, or payout is arranged and settled directly between the host and the participants, off the platform; we never take custody of the money and are not a party to it. If a host fails to pay what they promised, that is between you and the host. Hosts are responsible for complying with the tax, prize-competition, and gambling laws that apply where they and their participants live.

Giveaways are run by aimgroups, not by Kova. The aimgroup hosting a giveaway sets its entry conditions, draws the winner, and is solely responsible for delivering whatever it promised. Kova provides the entry and draw tooling and is not the sponsor of any giveaway: we do not fund prizes, ship them, verify that they exist, or step in if a host fails to deliver. Hosts are responsible for complying with the lottery, gambling, and promotion laws that apply where they and their entrants live.

Manipulating entries, entering with multiple accounts, or rigging a draw you host may result in removal from the platform.

The marketplace lets users list items for sale or trade. Kova is not a party to any transaction; we do not process payments, take custody of items, verify sellers, inspect items, or guarantee that a listing is genuine, accurate, or that any item will be delivered. Buyers and sellers transact entirely at their own risk and are responsible for complying with applicable consumer-protection, tax, and shipping laws in their jurisdiction.

We are not responsible or liable for scams, fraud, counterfeit or misdescribed items, non-payment, non-delivery, chargebacks, or any other loss or dispute arising from a marketplace transaction. Any arrangement you make with another user, including how you pay and ship, is solely between you and that user. Use a payment method with buyer protection, never send money you can’t afford to lose, and be cautious of deals that seem too good to be true.

You can report suspicious listings or users, and we may remove listings and act on accounts at our discretion, but we do not mediate disputes, recover funds, or reverse transactions between users.

Coaches list their own services and set their own prices. Kova is not a party to any coaching arrangement: we do not process payments, employ or vet coaches, verify qualifications or claimed results, or guarantee that a session takes place or is worth what was paid. Everything past the request, including how you pay and how sessions run, is between you and the coach.

We are not responsible or liable for unpaid or undelivered sessions, refunds, or any other dispute arising from a coaching arrangement. Vouches are written by other users and are not verified by us. Coaches must not misrepresent their rank, results, or experience, and vouches must reflect real coaching you received.

You may report profiles or aimgroups that violate these terms. We review reports and act at our discretion. Filing false reports is itself a violation of these terms.

You may delete your account at any time from your dashboard. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice. Upon termination, your data will be permanently deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Kova is provided "as is." We do not guarantee uptime, data preservation, or uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or shut down the platform at any time. We are not liable for any loss resulting from downtime or data loss.

Kova relies on Discord (sign-in and the optional aimgroup bot), Cloudflare R2 (image storage), the kovaaks API (scores and playtime), EVXL (benchmark ranks), Twitch (live status), the Steam Web API, Spotify (playlist previews), and the Hugging Face and jsdelivr CDNs (browser-side background removal). Outages or policy changes at any of these can affect features. We are not liable for third-party failures or policy changes outside our control.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kova and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you have paid us in the past 12 months (if any).

We may update these terms as the platform grows. We will announce material changes via our Discord or on the platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
